The America for Bulgaria Foundation (ABF) purchased the former United States Ambassador’s residence in central Sofia as its new headquarters. Originally designed in 1936 by the architectural office of Stancho Belkovski & Ivan Danchov, the building is considered a remarkable example of Bulgarian Modernism reflecting the strong design influence of the German Bauhaus. It served as the Ambassador’s residence from 1947 until 2020.

RENOVATION AND RESTORATION
SKOLNICK is working with local firm Tilev Architects on the complete renovation of the structure, upgrading it to serve ABF’s needs as a modern office environment, and restoring the large garden behind the building for outdoor events. The facility is expected to be occupied in 2024.
