“Batsto: Stories in the Pines” is a 3,000 sf exhibition developed for the Batsto Village Visitor Center. The exhibit is designed as an orientation experience to be explored prior to touring the grounds of Batsto Village. Interactive elements of the exhibit highlight the historical development of this Pine Barrens community with a focus on its residents and the history of this company town.

250 YEARS OF HISTORY
Batsto, established in 1766, was an important center of Revolutionary War-era iron production and glassmaking. The information, graphics, and nearly 150 artifacts in the exhibit highlight the rich natural environment of the Pine Barrens with a focus on the 250-year development of Batsto village.





THE PINE BARRENS
“Batsto: Stories in the Pines” draws visitors into the rich, interwoven stories and historical significance of this once-thriving community. Additionally, it entices and prepares them for their exploration of the Village site, its preserved nineteenth-century buildings, and its beautiful natural setting in the pines of Wharton State Forest.
