SKOLNICK collaborated with the specialized architectural team at NYU Langone Health to design a new 160,000 sf state-of-the-art pediatric care facility at the medical center’s main campus. Drawing inspiration from the wonders of New York City, the interior design incorporates large iconic sculptural elements, commissioned artwork, interactive experiences, and other references to NYC throughout the facility.

NYC LANDMARKS
An oversized LEGO Statue of Liberty welcomes children and families in the Ground Floor lobby. More NYC landmarks await discovery throughout the facility including a Brooklyn Bridge-themed elevator bank and Central Park mural in the Perioperative Unit reception area.
THE BEST IN MUSEUM AND HOSPITAL DESIGN
To ensure that the design engaged children and met all health care parameters, codes, and infection-control standards, SKOLNICK carefully worked with NYC Langone’s various development teams, child-life services, infection prevention, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing teams as well as two architectural teams. Through our combined expertise, the facility incorporated best practices from the field of children’s museums into the rigorous protocols and regulations of healthcare environments.
