ADAPTIVE REUSE

Two historic buildings, the Gas Machine Building and the Power Plant, are being preserved and renovated to include an exhibit hall and a variety of vocational workshops and presentation spaces. Several smaller buildings on the current site will be replaced with new structures to fit the program and requirements of the new facility.

INTEGRATED COMPLEX

To create a cohesive visitor flow through the complex, a new entry, orientation, reception, and connector structure will be created to link all the buildings together. A series of glass bridges and elevators will enable visitors to move back and forth freely between buildings and also access an outdoor Science Park with large scale interactives.
